Pine Creek RAil Trail
The 63 mile Pine Creek Rail Trail features an access point on each end, one in Wellsboro Junction and the opposing in Jersey Shore with numerous other access points in between. The trail features a fine crushed stone surface which originally was a railroad bed. The trail is for the most part a flat surface with only slight grades allowing bicycles to glide along with ease. The trail is scenic to say the least, users can expect to observe waterfalls, rock outcrops as well as wildlife such as: eagle, osprey, coyote, deer, heroin, wild turkey, river otter and black bear to name a few. Users should also be aware rattle snakes are populous in the area and are often spotted on the edges of the trail. It is recommended should you view a rattle snake to avoid the snake and keep at least a 4 foot distance between you and the snake as you proceed around, the snakes should never be approached or provoked.
Outhouses are available along the way for the convenience of hikers and bikers. The outhouses are for the most part well maintained. The trail is open a half hour prior to sunrise and closes a half hour after sunset.
